The heart and soul of Kittle Farms is and always will be Registered Purebred Gelbvieh cattle. With more than 40 years in the cattle business, we have not found a better combination of calving ease, performance, and docility. It is a true testament to the breed (as well as the foundation built by Johnny Kittle) that more than 80 percent of our 2015 Bull and Heifer sales were by return customers. Gelbvieh cattle simply “work” for commercial cattlemen.

With our Gelbvieh Herd Sires solidly in place, we worked diligently to identify a Herd Sire from a secondary breed which would allow us to develop a limited herd of Gelbvieh-cross cattle. While the Gelbvieh-Angus (Balancer) cross is being used with good results across the country, we simply could not ignore a cross which worked so effectively in our own commercial cattle operation before entering the registered cattle business – the Gelbvieh-Hereford cross. Hereford genetics add carcass value while building upon the Gelbvieh breed strengths of growth and docility. Our friend John Shearer, who owns and operates Circle S Gelbvieh in Canton, Kansas, was one of, if not the first, to develop the Gelbvieh-Hereford cross within a Registered cattle operation – and the early results have been phenomenal. Circle S aptly refers to the Gelbvieh-Hereford cross as “Gelfords.”

To anchor our Gelbvieh-Hereford cross program, we took great time to meet our goal of selecting a Herd Sire who hit on all of the marks of Calving Ease, Performance, and Eye Appeal. We feel confident we met that goal with the addition of DSB Revolution 115B, a Registered Polled Hereford (pictured) purchased from Drummond Sparks Beef. Revolution 115B was the top Yearling Hereford Bull for Drummond Sparks in 2015 and became the highest selling yearling in the history of the Drummond Sparks operation, which consists of approximately 300 head of Hereford cattle and 300 head of Angus cattle with headquarters at its Cullman County ranch near Hanceville, Alabama and satellite ranches in Jasper, Alabama and Auburn, Alabama.

Revolution 115B’s pedigree and performance are simply unmatched. The bull is sired by the #1 Registration Sire in the Hereford breed, MSU TCF Revolution 4R, and is out of a tremendous first calf heifer sired by WLB Global 72M 50S. Revolution 115B achieved an incredible 114 Weaning Ratio and 112 Yearling Ratio (from a 31 calf contemporary group) based upon a 684 pound Weaning Weight and a 1295 pound Yearling Weight from a 76 pound Birth Weight.
